چکیده

Abstract Background Rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO) is a type of pelvic performed to improve the bony coverage against femoral head for patients with dysplasia. The ideally evaluated three-dimensionally; however, there paucity published data regarding three-dimensional morphology in long-term excellent outcome after RAO. present study investigated characteristics RAO comparison normal hip joints and those converted total arthroplasty (THA) because osteoarthritis (OA) progression. Methods Anteroposterior plain radiograph computed tomography 57 (17 20 years or more RAO, 16 joints, THA RAO) were analyzed. two-dimensional lateral center-edge (CE) angle from radiographs anteversion, anterior sector angle, posterior (CT) images calculated. Results Compared THA, all parameters similar particularly analyses. was excessive, whereas deficient Anterior impingement instability may be cause OA progression Conclusion Caution must taken avoid rotating separated fragment excessively direction during prevent achieve outcome.

Computer-Assisted Rotational Acetabular Osteotomy for Patients with Acetabular Dysplasia

Rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO) is a well-established surgical procedure for patients with acetabular dysplasia, and excellent long-term results have been reported. However, RAO is technically demanding and precise execution of this procedure requires experience with this surgery. The usefulness of computer navigation in RAO includes its ability to perform three-dimensional (3D) preoperat...

Rotational Acetabular Osteotomy

Hip dysplasia is the most common cause of secondary osteoarthritis (OA). To prevent the early onset of secondary OA, Nishio's transposition osteotomy, Steel's triple osteotomy, Eppright's dial osteotomy, Wagner's spherical acetabular osteotomy, Tagawa's rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO), and Ganz' periacetabular osteotomy (PAO) have been proposed. PAO and RAO are now commonly used in surgic...

Incidence of Femoroacetabular Impingement after Rotational Acetabular Osteotomy

INTRODUCTION: Rotational acetabular osteotomy (RAO) has been recognized as an useful procedure, especially for early stage of osteoarthritis of the hip, with satisfactory intermediate and long-term results. In RAO, it is important to rotate the acetabular roof sufficiently, contributing to improvement of the acetabular roof coverage. On the other hand, femoroacetabular impingement due to acetab...

Rotational acetabular osteotomy for acetabular dysplasia. A follow-up for more than ten years.

Between 1986 and 1990, we carried out 55 rotational acetabular osteotomies in 54 patients with acetabular dysplasia. Five hips were lost to follow-up. Of the 50 remaining, the degenerative changes were classified according to the criteria of Tönnis as grade 0 in 23, grade 1 in 16 and grade 2 in 11. The mean age of the three men and 46 women at the time of operation was 31.8 years (13 to 53). Th...

Rotational Acetabular Osteotomy for Osteoarthritis with Acetabular Dysplasia: Conversion Rate to Total Hip Arthroplasty within Twenty Years and Osteoarthritis Progression After a Minimum of Twenty Years.

BACKGROUND We investigated the rate of conversion to total hip arthroplasty by twenty years and radiographic findings at a minimum of twenty years after rotational acetabular osteotomy. METHODS Between June 1986 and August 1991, we performed 172 rotational acetabular osteotomies in 168 patients with acetabular dysplasia. Of those, ninety-three hips (ninety-one patients), including twenty-thre...
